The Silver Sky came out of a close partnership between John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith. Over two years, they took their favorite details from 1963 and 1964 single-coil guitars and refined each one with a modern eye. The result is the vintage single-coil guitar, perfected, and it stands apart from both today's guitars and the originals that inspired it!
This one pairs an alder body in Frost with a maple neck in the 635JM shape and a rosewood fingerboard with a vintage 7.25" radius and small bird inlays. Three 635JM single-coils sound sweet and articulate through a master volume, two tone controls and a 5-way blade switch. A PRS steel tremolo, vintage-style locking tuners on the inverted PRS headstock, a bone nut and nickel hardware finish it off. It feels like an old favorite the second you pick it up, with the precision of a brand-new instrument!
