Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '59 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic, AAA Rosewood Fingerboard – Chocolate 3-Color Sunburst
The Limited Edition '59 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic is the Custom Shop's reincarnation of one of the most important basses ever built. 1959 was the year the P Bass got its rosewood fingerboard, and this one was built as part of the Custom Shop's 2022 Fall Event limited run, complete with a limited edition decal and certificate. It's built for players who want the feel and tone of a real late-'50s P Bass in a bass that's ready for the gig.
The 2-piece alder body is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer in a rich Chocolate 3-Color Sunburst, with Fender's Journeyman Relic treatment giving it light, natural-looking wear without going overboard. A gold anodized aluminum pickguard, relic'd to match, is the classic '59 look.
Tone comes from a Custom Shop hand-wound '57 Precision Bass pickup, delivering the deep, punchy, round P Bass sound that has driven countless iconic recordings. It sits perfectly in a mix with fingers or a pick, from Motown grooves to rock and country.
The quartersawn maple neck has a '60 P Bass oval "C" profile (.790" at the 1st fret, .990" at the 12th) with a 1.750" bone nut and a medium-tint nitrocellulose finish with Relic wear, so it feels smooth and played-in from the very first note. It's topped with a flat-lam AAA rosewood fingerboard with a vintage 7.25" radius, 20 medium jumbo frets and vintage clay dots.
Hardware includes a relic'd vintage-style bridge, relic'd vintage nickel bass tuners and an engraved Limited Edition neck plate, all aged to match.
This '59 Precision Bass Journeyman Relic includes a Fender Custom Shop tweed P Bass case and certificate of authenticity, and it's a great fit for any bassist who wants the real thing from Fender's Dream Factory.
